Ayatollah Saneie died on Friday from illness and old age, according to reports published in local media.
He was originally from Iran's central Isfahan region and had served jail terms in the former Shah's regime in Iran for his role in activities that led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
The senior cleric had also served as head of Iran's 15 Khordad Foundation, a body founded in 1982 by the order of late Imam Khomeini (RA) to resolve the economic issues of the families of martyrs and veterans of the Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution.
